A2Z Of Immediate Care IPA 1.0
A2Z Of Immediate Care IPA 1.0
Description
99% of hospital patients become ill OUTSIDE hospital. This book explains the roles and skills of the emergency services that help get them to the right hospital having had the right treatment on the way there…that includes YOU!
We want to make you look afresh at both your own role and skills, and those of the other memebers of your pre-hospital team, whether you are a health (hospital or pre-hospital) or other emergency or voluntary service worker.
We are both full time GPs who work in Immediate Care. Over the years we have heard endless Pearls of Wisdom from more experienced folk (and quite a lot of rubbish). We decided to try and share these - your experience could stem from learning about other people's mistakes rather than your own!
Although every incident is different, general principles do apply. We hope that this app will give you the equivalent of the London Cabbies The Knowledge.
We do not feel that Medical, Ambulance or Nurse training and subsequent widespread experience can, or should be, covered by a book of simple one-liners. Do the groundwork....
Everything you wanted to know about pre-hospital care but nobody tells you - we have aimed to give useful attitudes, tips and relevant anecdotes and deliberately avoided the evidence-based approach. There are lots of brighter authors, bigger books, and more up to date guidelines and journals.
Our contributors are acknowledged in the app – the one liners are mainly theirs, and any misquotes are mainly ours....
Dr Graeme Spencer and Dr Vicki Gilmore
